As many as seven persons died on the spot in a gruesome collision between a timber laden lorry

and an Innova car that took place on Thursday, at Tavarekoppa of Shivamogga.

The impact of the collision was such that the innova has been reduced to mere metal ball. The deceased Madhu and Sridhar were working as drivers for a Bengaluru based company, while Praveen was working as a makeup artist. Manjunath, Rajesh and Mallesh were employed in a hotel.

The rescue operation turned out to be a challenge for the fire personnel, police and the locals who put up a joint operation. The car was dismantled in stages to retrieve the dead bodies that were stuck inside the vehicle. The road remained blocked for several hours due to the mishap.

When the police tried to ascertain the identity of the deceased and also tried to get some contacts of the deceased though their mobile phones, the cops only met failure because all of the seven mobile phones of the deceased had screen locks on, which could not be opened. When the police contacted a number written on the car, the person who had received the call had no idea about the passengers in the car.
