Karnataka Election: Muniratna of Congress wins RR Nagar election

Congress candidate Muniratna Naidu won the Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency with a huge margin against BJP candidate Muniraju Gowda. Muniratna has won by 25,492 votes against the BJP. Congress strongman DK Shivakumar, his brother Bengaluru Rural MP DK Suresh congratulated Muniratna Naidu for the victory. 

After the 18th round of counting in RR Nagar, Muniratna secured 1,08,064 votes, against Muniraju Gowda of BJP who got  82,572 votes. JD(S) candidate GH Ramachandra was pushed to the third spot with 60,360 votes. In a press meet held after the counting, DK Shivakumar said, "After the post-poll alliance, we requested JDS to not field its candidate. But, we went ahead and won the seat by a huge margin. On behalf of the party, people, and I congratulate Muniratna." "Voters have given their verdict. It is the victory of development against propaganda and negative campaign against Congress candidate," he said. DK Suresh, "BJP tried dirty tricks to defeat the Congress. The BJP tried to malign Muniratna by fabricating his role in the seizure of voter ID card case." Muniratna Naidu said, " Voters rose above caste and religion politics to vote for development of the constituency."
