Opposition leader BS Yeddyurappa called for 'Karnataka bandh' on Monday if Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy failed to wave off farmers loan within 24 hours. After his speech, BJP MLAs walked out of the Assembly ahead of the trust vote. BS Yeddyurappa was speaking in the assembly after HD Kumaraswamy moved confidence motion in the house.

Throughout the speech, Yeddyurappa targeted JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda and his son CM HD Kumaraswamy for forming the government with the Congress. Yeddyurappa recalled his bitter experience with JDS during 20 month coalition government. He asked, "Why didn't your father Deve Gowda have any problem for 20 months with me. Only when it came to transfer of power he started having problems Yeddyurappa tells Kumaraswamy." CM HD Kumaraswamy hit back at the BJP saying, he was not deterred by the threats of the bandh. Kumaraswamy alleged that BJP is trying to play with emotions of people with such statements. "I will not BJP do with Karnataka what they did in Karavali," said Kumaraswamy.
