In Karnataka, the richest candidate is worth Rs 1,020 crore, poorest, Rs 1,000

The big focus in the report put up by the Association for Democratic Reforms was the 883 crorepati candidates who will be fighting the Karnataka assembly elections. The report analysed the affidavits of 2,560 candidates. 

All parties have fielded candidates who have declared assets more than Rs 1 crore. The Aam Aadmi Party too has one candidate who is a crorepati. Among major parties, 208(93%) out of 224 candidates from BJP, 207 (94%) out of 220 candidates analysed from INC, 154(77%) out of 199 candidates analysed from JD(S), 13(52%) out of 25 candidates analysed from JD(U), 9(33%) out of 27 candidates analysed from AAP and 199 (18%) out of 1090 independent candidates have declared assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore. 447 candidates have declared assets worth Rs 5 crore and above. There are 252 candidates who have declared assets in the range of Rs 2 crore and Rs 5 crore. In the Rs 50 lakh to Rs 2 crore bracket there are 442 candidates. 600 candidates have declared assets in the bracket of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. In the less than Rs 10 lakh bracket there are 819 candidates. 340 (13%) out of 2560 candidates have not declared their sources of income. 

The richest: Priyakrishna who is part of the real estate lobby is the richest. Contesting from the Govindrajnagar constituency, he has total assets worth Rs 10,20,53,87,250. The Congress candidate has declared movable assets worth Rs 8,60,43,87,250 and immovable assets worth Rs 1,60,10,00,000. N Nagaraju (MTB) of the Congress is contesting from Hosakote. His total assets are worth Rs 10,15,80,29,352. His movable and immovable assets are worth Rs 4,37,15,64,043 and Rs 5,78,64,65,309.  The third richest candidate is D K Shivakumar of the Congress who is contesting from Kanakapura. His movable assets are worth Rs 1,01,31,90,097 while immovable assets stand at Rs 7,38,69,76,948. His total assets are worth Rs 8,40,01,67,045. The low asset candidates: Dilip Kumar contesting as an independent from Bommanhalli is the poorest candidate in the fray. He has zero immovable assets while his movable assets are worth Rs 1,000. His total assets are worth Rs 1,000. M Lakshmi of the Jai Vijaya Bharathi Party comes second in this list with assets worth Rs 2,000. Her movable assets are worth Rs 2,000 and immovable assets stand at zero. Srrenivas S an independent has declared assets worth Rs 2,053. With zero immovable assets, he has movable assets of Rs 2,053.

High income as declared in ITR: N Nagaraju with total assets of Rs 1,015 crore says his income is generated from agriculture, house, property, business and other sources. The total income shown by him in the ITR including the assets of his spouse comes up to Rs 1,57,04,29,210. The self income shown by him in the ITR is at Rs 1,04,41,26,570. B A Basavaraju of the Congress contesting from K R Pura has assets worth Rs 1,03,19,48,613. The total income shown by him in the ITR including the assets of his spouse comes up to Rs 27,77,31,712. The self income shown by him in the ITR is at Rs 27,77,31,712. Mohammad Iqbal Hothur of the JD(S) contesting from the Bellary city constituency has assets worth Rs 3,80,98,56,625. The total income shown by him in the ITR including the assets of his spouse comes up to Rs 24,96,99,810. The self income shown by him in the ITR is at Rs 1,04,06,910.
