Congress conquest in upcoming polls certain, says Ivan D' Souza

Mangaluru: Welcoming the decision of the AICC to give yet another term to Dr Parameshwar to continue as the President of KPCC, MLC Ivan D' Souza has said that the Congress at the state has a very strong team, right from the block-level to the KPCC.

"In forthcoming elections, the Congress will work as one team under the leadership of Chief Minister and Dr Parameshwar and win the election with a romping majority," he said.

Meanwhile, attacking the BJP and the JD(S), D'Souza said that the two parties were spreading rumours about the elections being preponed.

"The elections will be held as per schedule. The Congress will go to the people on the basis of the stable and progressive governance provided in the state over the last four years. The aspirations of the people have been fulfilled by the Siddaramaiah-led government, which is not facing even a single allegation of corruption so far," he said.

"Food is an individual's choice. Further, the policy will also affect the farmers who want to sell their cattle. According to the court, this policy of union government cannot be universalized but the decision is up to state governments now," he said adding that if the government is concerned it must take steps to start 'Gau Shalas' and sanction grants to nurture the cattle.

"The country is exporting about 2.4 million ton beef to the foreign countries. There only 14% Muslims in the country out of which four per cent consume beef. But, retailing of beef is in the hands of Muslims in a big way," he said assessing the achievements of the three years of BJP rule as a big zero.
