Thimmappa : Houses in govt. lands at rural areas to be regularised under Akrama-Sakrama scheme

Dharwad: Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa has asked those residents in rural areas who have constructed houses on government lands to get them regularised under Akrama-Sakrama scheme.

Speaking to media after reviewing the drought situation of Dharwad at DC office, Thimmappa said people who had constructed houses on government lands unknowingly are under constant fear of loosing the same. However, the government had brought in this scheme to uphold their interests, he added.

A three-member team has been constituted in every gram panchayat comprising of village accountant, PDO and a revenue inspector to expedite the process of distributing title deeds, he informed.

To ease the process of getting title deeds, a team headed by revenue inspector would visit beneficiaries' house, scrutinise their identity cards like Aadhar card and voters ID and fill-up the application forms for get title deeds, he added.

As per a survey conducted in Dharwad district, there are 14,700 houses on government land and title deeds have been distributed to 4,500 beneficiaries. The remaining applications should be disposed off in next six months, he directed.

On crop insurance, Thimmappa stated that the kharif crop insurance to the tune of Rs 175 Crore had been released and the amount was being credited to the bank accounts of the farmers.

The crop insurance for rabi crop damage is yet to be released by the Centre, he said. Stressing on on the need to rehabilitate the forest dwellers and increase food production, he said the forest dwellers were contributing much for the food security and this was the need of the hour.
