50 government schools to have solar rooftops, says Ivan D'souza

Mangaluru: Solar roof tops will be installed at 50 government aided schools with 3kv capacity at an estimated project cost of Rs 1.37 crore, said MLC Ivan D' Souza.

Addressing a press meet at his office here on Thursday, April 26 Ivan said that already six schools in district have installed solar rooftop units and four schools are in the process of installing the same. This is done through MLC's local area development fund.

"In 60 wards of Mangaluru City Corporation, corporators will have to identify two houses of economically weaker section from their ward who will be provided Solar DC Home Lighting System. The unit costing Rs 20,000 can run two light, mobile charger and a fan," he said.
