Railways to bring in private agencies to curb desecration of money

Mysuru: Taking a cue of lesson from the recent incident of a railway employee swindling over Rs 65 lakhs, the Railway authorities are now mulling over engaging non railway professional agencies or private agencies to suggest and reform the software and information system in the department so that such incidents do not occur in future.

An employee of the Bengaluru East Railway station had used Rs 65 lakh of the department's money for his own purpose. The misappropriation came to light during the audit and the accused was instantly nabbed by the Railway Protection Force.

As per sources, this is not the only incident where an employee had swindled the money of the railways, but it is just that this incident was reported while many such incidents have not come to limelight. Hence to tighten the system across South Western Railway, AK Gupta, General Manager, South Western Railway has decided to make necessary changes.
