U T Khader : Notices issued to toor dal suppliers after shortage of lentil in fair price shops

Mangaluru: With the state reeling under shortage of toor dal supplies, State minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader has said that the agencies which have taken tender to supply toor dal have been served notices for lapse in supplies.

Addressing a news conference on Monday, April 10, Khader said that eight to ten agencies had taken the contract of supplying toor dal to the state and due to their lapse, entire state is facing trouble.

"There is need for 2,177 quintal of toor dal in home district alone, but the agency-Shri Traders has supplied only 155 quintal. However, with this lesson, the state is now contemplating on purchasing the lentil from the growers directly," he said.
