Jayalalithaa case: Karnataka govt. spent Rs 2.78 crore on SLP

The state government spent `2.78 crore on the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed in the Supreme Court in late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's case. 

The SLP was filed challenging a Karnataka High Court order setting aside a special court judgment and acquitting Jayalalithaa and others in a disproportionate assets case.

 In response to an application filed by city-based RTI activist T Narasimha Murthy, the office of the Advocate General stated that the state government had spent `2,78,70,888 on the SLP. 

The expenditure included `1.06 crore to B V Acharya, senior advocate, `95.16 lakh to Dushyant Dave, senior advocate, and `32.01 lakh to Joseph Aristotle and `42.23 lakh to Sandesh Chowta, both advocates, and `2.43 lakh to Advocate General Madhusudan R Naik.
