CBI conduct raids at Ramanagara, Kanakapura

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday conducted searches at around five places in Bangalore, Kanakapura and Ramanagara. CBI is investigating a demontisation related case. The CBI had registered a case against B Prakash, the chief manager of the Corporation Bank and alleged that Rs 10 Lakh had been exchanged illegally during demonetisation.

Incidentally, DK Shivakumar who had won the recently conducted Karnataka assembly elections from Kanakpura had accused the ruling BJP of using central agencies against the Congress. The Congress and JD(S) had formed the government in Karnataka with HD Kumaraswamy as the chief minister who won the elections from the Ramanagara constituency. Earlier in the day, Congress strongman DK Shivakumar and his brother MP DK Suresh alleged vindictive politics by the BJP government in an urgent press conference held at their residence.

Bengaluru Rural MP, MP DK Suresh said, "PM Modi and Amit Shah are targeting Congress leaders by misusing central agencies. CBI may issue search warrant anytime today." DK Shivakumar and his DK Suresh were instrumental in holding the Congress numbers intact during trust vote by BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa. Both the brothers were assigned the task of guarding the MLAs against all tactics of horse-trading and anti-poaching by the BJP in politically turbulent times in Karnataka. As a result, BS Yeddyurappa resigned as CM without taking floor test in Karnataka Assembly.
