The official website of Kuvempu University was on Monday reportedly hacked by a well-known Pak-based hacker, Hunter Bajwa. The Website defaced with messages such as - 'Pakistan Zindabad'. However, Varsity Vice-Chancellor Professor Jogan Shankar confirmed the incident. However, it was later restored.

Bajwa's team is suspected to have hacked hundreds of Indian website over the years. On its Facebook page, the group has claimed to have hacked 530 websites. Indian and Pakistani hackers have been engaging in this kind of 'cyber war' for more than two years now, for the most part as small groups or working solo. The attacks of choice usually involve breaking into and defacing government websites of the other country, though they also occasionally target those of colleges and NGOs as well. This cyber war came to a head in September 2015, when a Kerala government website was hacked. In retaliation, Indian hackers banded together to begin #OpPak, where at least 227 Pakistani websites were breached and defaced.
