PM Modi to participate in anointing ceremony of Bahubali Gomateshwara

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Shravanabelagola for the Bahubali Mahamasthakabhisheka celebrations in Hassan district on Monday. PM Modi will take a helicopter to reach Shravanabelagola and will address the devotees. According to reports, PM Modi will inaugurate the 661 newly chiselled steps at the rocky Vindhyagiri Hill on which stands the world's tallest monolithic statue of Bahubali.

The 'Mahamastakabhisheka', grand anointing ceremony of Lord Gommateshwara Bahubali, began on Saturday. The religious event is observed once every 12 years in Jain Dharmic cycle, is an integral part of the ancient and composite Jain tradition. The 58-foot-high monolithic Gomateshwara statue on Vindyagiri in Shravanabelagola is located around 160 km west of Bengaluru. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah welcomed PM Modi arrived who arrived at Mandakalli airport in Mysuru on Sunday night. PM will also dedicate to the nation, the electrified Mysuru-Bengaluru railway line. PM Modi to also address a public rally in Mysuru.
