Kannada activist demands holiday on Valentine's day

When Bajrang Dal activists protesting against the celebration of Valentine's day on the streets of the country citing the influence of 'western culuture', a pro-Kannada activist and politician from Bengaluru solemnized the marriage of two sheep in Bengaluru. Karnataka Rakshana Vedike chief Vatal Nagaraj organized marriage of two sheep in Bengaluru as a mark of support to Valentine's Day.

Vatal Nagaraj, known for his unique protests in Karnataka, also put forward quirky demands before the government. He said, "We should not object to Valentines Day because love does not have any community or caste. Central government should declare one-day holiday for love. State govt should give Rs 50,000 to 1 lakh to any couple who marry for love." Meanwhile, Bharat Hindu Front cadres on Wednesday performed marriage rituals between a dog and a donkey to protest against Valentine's Day celebration in Chennai. Later the protesters were detained by the Chennai Police.
