Mysuru Wadiyars welcome royal heir after 6 decades

Mysuru: The Mysuru royal family is in a jubilant mood with Trishika Devi Wadiyar giving birth to a baby boy late Wednesday night at Cloudnine Hospital here in the city.

The birth of a heir in the family comes after a long ardous wait of nearly six decades for the family which is believed to be plagued by a curse from Alamelamma, wife of a local chieftain, that the Wadiyars would never have children.As per hospital sources, both the baby, weighing around 3 kg and Trishika are doing well.

Meanwhile, the family has, requested the hospital authorities not to divulge details of the birth, as they are likely to issue a statement on Thursday.Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, adopted son of Maharani Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of late Srikantadatta Narsimharaja Wadiyar had tied the knot with Trishika Kumar from Dungerpur Royal family in June 2016.
