Mangaluru Chalo rally: Suo motu case registered against BSY, others

Mangaluru: A suo motu case has been booked against BJP state president and several other BJP leaders for changing the venue of the Mangaluru Chalo protest to Jyothi Circle instead of the pre-designated venue on September 7 in the city.

BJP members had been given the nod to hold a public meeting at Nehru Maidan here by the police authorities. A chaotic situation was witnessed here when the BJP leaders held their protest at Jyothi leading to traffic issues and later tried to violate the orders by trying to take out a bike rally.

A case has been registered against BJP leaders B S Yeddyurappa, K S Eshwarappa, Jagadish Shettar, Prahlad Joshi, R Ashok, Shobha Karandlaje, Nalin Kumar Kateel and others under sections 106 and 108 of the Karnataka Police Act and IPC sections 143 and 149 at Bunder police station.
