Activists detained, lathicharge likely as BJP tries to go ahead with rally

Mangaluru: A chaotic situation is being witnessed at Jyothi Circle as the BJP activists assembled here for the Mangaluru Chalo rally are attempting to take out a bike rally, in defiance of Karnataka police Act 35(3) in the limits of Police Commissionerate imposed by the police commissioner.

As the activists are trying to breach the barricades, post the speeches of the leaders, the police have bundled up several activists in buses here. A few people, including a TV cameraman has been injured in the scuttle that prevailed as the activists forcefully tried to go ahead with the rally.If the situation goes out of hand the police may resort to lathi charging, it is gathered.

Present at the venue are top BJP leaders including B S Yeddyurappa, MP Shobha Karandlaje, CT Ravi, Aravind Limbavali, Sunil Kumar, Jagadish Shettar, Prahlad Joshi, local MP Nalin Kumar and BJP Yuva Morcha state president Pratap Simha.
