BJP's Mangaluru Chalo: Prathap Simha among others taken to preventive custody

Mysuru: Mangaluru Chalo bike rally organised by the BJP was stopped by the police at Gandhi square and some of the BJP members were taken into preventive custody.

MP Pratap Simha, city BJP president Dr B H Manjunath, H V Rajeev, former minister S A Ramadas, Phaneesh, Nagendra and others were taken into preventive custody by the police when they told Police Commissioner Subramanyeshwara Rao that they would continue with the rally despite being denying the permission.

Section 144 has been imposed till Friday evening and the police commissioner said that the rule violators will be booked under rowdy act. But the BJP leaders remained adamant stating that right to protest is the spirit of democracy.Reacting on the developments, MP Pratap Simha said, the state government should ban organisations like PFI and SDPI and added the Mangalore rally will go on as planned.
