Mysuru: The citizens of Mysore had great admiration for the Wodeyar King and revered him like God, and the bond is purely emotional said, Yaduveer, Scion of Mysuru on September 2.

Taking a swipe at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Yaduveer refused to comment on the former’s remarks but felt people’s love and admiration arising out of emotional bond for the erstwhile king should have been considered before passing the comments.

It may be recalled that CM Siddaramaiah had said, "The Maharajas words were Vedavakyas (dictat/holy words) while we (the elected representatives) cannot act like the Maharaja as people would question us. No one would question the Maharaja and people had great respect for him. But if we don't work, people would question us.

The Maharaja built the market with public money; he didn’t pay out of his own pocket. The Maharaja was a government in himself. While we are elected representatives, he was the ruler. He was supposed to work for the people and that’s why he gave it."

Yaduveer’s intelligent swipe is in response to CM’s remarks on Maharaja recently. It is up to the government to decide and act on the installation of Rajendra Shri statue after taking citizens' views (including him), the scion added. The district administration should emphasise on "clean Dasara" this year, Yaduveer concluded.
