Dharwad: Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Jagadish Shettar has demanded CBI enquiry into Chief Minister Siddaramaiah receiving Hublot watch as a gift.

He charged that it was impossible for the state government controlled investigating agencies to bring out truth behind this case.Speaking to reporters in Dharwad, Shettar said CM had rescued himself from submitting required documents to the Assembly during its recent session.

There is stuff in the allegations made by former DySP Anupama Shenoy that in return to the Rs 70 lakh worth watch, CM had given a contract to the person gifting it.

"Taking the watch, the state government has given a hospital contract to the Dubai-based businessman. It has also given him a Rs 450 Crore contract for the development of Jog falls. There is a need for investigation into this matter and only CBI probe can bring out complete truth," he said.

He said it was not possible for the state government to push this matter under the carpet like it did in the Vishwabarathi Housing scam. The opposition will press to know who all benefited from the housing scam, he added.
