Siddaramaiah to do 'Trin Trin' for bicycle sharing system on May 20

Mysuru: TrinTrin, the much anticipated India’s first public bicycle sharing (PBS) system will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on May 20.

The system is aimed at promoting non-motorised means of transport and reduces traffic and pollution levels in the city. Already 48 docking stations are set up which includes Palace, Jaganmohan Palace, Mysuru Zoo, Kukkarahalli lake, Karanji lake, Chamundi Hill, St Philomena’s Church in addition to bus depots and railway station.

D Randeep, Deputy Commissioner, Mysuru district said, “In all respects, PBS is ready. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah along with various other urban development projects will inaugurate the new system on May 20. Already 48 docking stations spread across the city are ready. Even 200 to 300 cards are being distributed to various cycle enthusiasts.

Mysuru City Corporation is implementing the project in collaboration with Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT). Although the MCC will have ownership of the bicycles used for the scheme.

 The project will be operated by Green Wheel Ride, a Mysuru based manufacturer of eco-friendly bicycles. The total cost of the project amounts to Rs 20.5 Crore; the initial investment comes to nearly Rs 8 Crore, with the remaining funds being earmarked for operation and maintenance for the next six years.
