FIR against actor Duniya Vijay for choking police

An FIR has been filed against actor Duniya Vijay for obstructing the police from arresting P Sundar Gowda, the producer of Kannada movie Maasti Gudi. The actor has been booked over one-and-a-half years after the Maasti Gudi tragedy led to the deaths of Sandalwood actors Uday and Anil. The FIR has been registered in Channammanakere Achukattu Police in Bengaluru. 

According to reports, Vijay obstructed to the duty of police personnel who arrived at P Sundar Gowda's residence to arrest him. On Wednesday, the court of the Ramanagara judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) had issued a warrant to arrest P Sundar Gowda, the film's producer. The Tavarekere Police, equipped with the warrant, arrived at P Sundar Gowda's home located within the limits of the Channammanakere Achukattu Police Station late at night. Duniya Vijay stopped the police from arresting Sundar Gowda, saying he should be allowed to change his dress. However, taking advantage of this situation Sundar escaped from his home. Vijay is reportedly absconding after CK Achukattu police filed a case against him on Thursday on charges of obstructing a public servant from discharging his duty.

What is Masti Gudi tragedy?
The film crew of Maasti Gudi had gone to the Thippagondanahalli Reservoir to shoot the climax of the film. Two actors, Uday and Anil, jumped off a helicopter into the reservoir without safety gears. Consequently, both the actors, who did not know swimming, drowned in the reservoir. Actor Vijay who was wearing safety gear was rescued. A case was filed against the director, producer and other for the negligence towards safety and well-being of junior artists.
