In Bagalkot, 2 police officers who are in election duty killed in accident

Three police personnel, including two offices, have been killed after their police vehicle collided with a truck in Bagalkot on Thursday. The cops were on way to Bagalkot from Bengaluru for election duty.

The incident took place on Wednesday midnight at Kudala Sangam Cross in Bagalkote Taluk. Two police officers, including a driver, died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as CID DySP P Balagouda (55), CID CPI KH Shivaswamy (55) and driver Venu Gopal (23). The bodies have been shifted to Bagalkot district hospital.

DySP Balagouda worked in the crime department and known as upright officer, he had served in Tumkur and Bangalore. The accident occurred when the driver of the jeep collided with the lorry parked at the roadside. A case has been registered in Bagalkote rural police station. The lorry driver is absconding and the police search is underway.
