4 killed, 51 injured as buses crush car near Mysuru

Mysuru: Four people were killed and 51 injured when two private buses crashed into a car near Chikkalli of T. Narsipur taluk on T. Narsipur Road on Wednesday evening.

Vishwanath (30) and his mother Radha (55), from Maddur, who were in the car, and Mahesh (11), a student of Shashwathi School of Alanahalli and from Chikkalli, and Basavaraj (55) of Kupparavalli in Nanjangud taluk, who were in the bus, are the deceased. The injured are being treated at Nirmala, Cauvery, Shanthaveri Gopalgowda, JSS and KR hospitals. One of the private buses going from Mysuru was trying to overtake the Indica car when it suddenly swerved left and crashed into the car, while trying to avoid a lorry and a bus coming from the opposite direction. The bus coming from the opposite direction too crashed into the car, killing the occupants on the spot. The traffic police took over an hour to rescue the injured from the mangled remains of the vehicles. Traffic was affected on the busy route. The bodies were shifted to K.R. Hospital for the post-mortem and will be handed over to relatives on Thursday.
