Mangaluru: A tense situation continued to prevail in the communally sensitive town of Kalladka with shops and establishments remaining closed on Saturday, a day after a group of miscreants stabbed a youth from the other community.

Earlier yesterday, May 26 Mohammed Hashir was stabbed by few miscreants who arrived in a car while he was returning from the mosque.

Condemning the assault on Hashir, a youth group reportedly forced closure of shops in the area and a bandh-like situation is prevailing in the region on Saturday, May 27.

It is also gathered that a verbal argument ensued between two groups of different communities early today morning which led to stone pelting.

The same was brought under control after police interference. High security deployment is being maintained in the area to prevent any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, Section 144 has been imposed in the area from today 9 am and the same will continue till June 2. The orders were issued by Mangaluru Assistant Commissioner Renuka Prasad.
