Cyber attack : Shivamogga Asst Prof falls victim to ransomware

Shivamogga: After a Haveri man complained of being victim to Ransomware, another case of the same cyber attack has been reported from Shivamogga.

PES Institute of Technology and Management, Shivamogga Assistant Professor Arjun, resident of Gopal Gowda Layout has said that his laptop has been corrupted by the ransomware.

While stating that he is not unaware as to how the ransomware may have entered his computer, Arjun says that a dialogue box appearing on his laptop screen in bitcoin demands $600 for de-encrypting the files stored in the laptop.

The deadline to pay the said ransom to retrieve the files is three day.The ransomware has taken into its clutches 150 nations across the world, it is said.
