Users of the Android and iOS apps of WhatsApp can create and share text-based status updates using this new feature.

The colorful text-based feature lets users to inform their WhatsApp contacts about that is happening in their life at that moment or what they are doing with text, colorful backgrounds, and emojis. Users can change the background color as per their preference and also include emojis and links in the status.

Interestingly, it is possible to change the privacy settings of the Status from the Settings of WhatsApp. It can be set to "my contacts", "contacts except" and "only share with". Like the previous status on WhatsApp, this one will also vanish after 24 hours and users can get to know who has viewed their status by hitting the eye icon at the bottom. Also, the WhatsApp contacts can comment on the colorful text-based status added by tapping the reply button. The comments can include a photo, video or GIF.

As of now, the new colorful text-based status will be available for Android and iOS users of the platform. The WhatsApp for Web recent received the Status feature via an update. The users of the desktop client can just view the colorful text status messages set by others. Notably, the support to add stickers to the WhatsApp status messages is not enabled for now. We can expect the same to be added in the coming days.
