Chennai: A sea of yellow filled the Chennai central station on Thursday morning as fans of Chennai Super Kings departed for Pune in a special train arranged by the franchisee to witness their match against Rajasthan Royals to be held on Friday.

The 14-coach chartered train, named ‘Whistle Podu Express’, took around 1,000 fans in an all-expense-paid trip. CSK officials confirmed that they were also looking at the possibilities of taking fans for the remaining ‘home’ matches in Pune. “It’s an initiative by CSK’s official fan club. When they approached the franchisee, we were just glad to take it forward as fans are our biggest strength,” said a CSK official. Matches of CSK were forced to move out of Chennai following Cauvery protests.
