South Africa won the toss and elected to bat in the first ODI against India at the Kingsmead here. The hosts will be looking to continue their unbeaten record against India in the shorter format at this venue having won six of their seven games with one ending without a result.

South Africa will miss their ace batsman AB de Villiers, who has been replaced by Aiden Markram, who will bat in his place. As expected, India play two spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, with three seamers on a surface that will be on the slower side.

India had lost the Test series 2-1 and they will be hoping to record their first series win. Despite them having a poor record at Durban, they bank on the huge support and fan base here. Most of the fans that trickled into the stadium said they are here supporting Team India. There were showers last night and threatened to disrupt the game. However, by the time the match began, it was bright, sunny and hot.
