Kolkata, Nov 21: India coach Ravi Shastri on Monday said "sky is the limit" for skipper Virat Kohli after his match-winning 104 against Sri Lanka in the first Test here.

"He is a fabulous player. The sky is the limit for him," Shastri told reporters on the sidelines of a programme in the city after India played out a draw against the Lankans.

It was Kohli's 50th international hundred -- 18th in Tests, 11th as skipper, and the first at the hallowed ground. Kohli led from the front with an unbeaten 104 off 119 balls that included 12 fours and two sixes after initial jitters.

He was also the fastest to get to 50 centuries in all formats of the game. Applauding the Indian captain, Ravi Shastri also revealed a moment from the match which proves Virat's selflessness and love for the nation.

There was a moment from a match when Kohli was batting on 97 then he looked at Shastri in the dressing room as it to ask "Should I declare?" To this, Shastri asked Kohli to bat for another over and complete his century. Since there was not enough time for his bowlers to dismiss the opposition, the captain's intention was clear to put the team's interest before his personal milestone.
