Superstar Rajinikanth spoke for the first time after the launch of Kamal Haasan's political party in Tamil Nadu's cultural capital Madurai. But, Rajinikanth did not elaborate over alliance with Kamal Haasan's party in Tamil Nadu. Rajinikanth, said, "Kamal Haasan's public meeting was good, I watched it. Our paths and styles may be different but our goal is same, that is doing good for people."

Asked about his opinion on the MNM, Rajinikanth said Haasan was an "efficient" person. "Kamal is efficient. He will earn people's confidence," he said. Haasan had yesterday written in a Tamil weekly that he had earlier held a "secret" meeting with Rajinikanth to inform about his decision to enter politics. The duo had then decided that even if they were in opposing camps, the respect for each other should be maintained. Kamal Haasan on Wednesday formally announced the name of his political party - 'Makkal Needhi Maiam'. He took to Twitter to announce official website of the party 'Maiam' and asked his supporters to join in.

Haasan has avoided the word Dravidian in the name of his party and has preferred the term Makkal (people) to denote inclusiveness and even his party symbol on the flag - joined hands in red, white and black colour--denotes unity and fight for justice for the people of Tamil Nadu, said a person from Haasan's team who did not want to be named. Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, during his US tour, had ended the speculation over his alliance with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth and said that his alliance with the Rajini is unlikely as of now. While speaking at Harvard University, Haasan said,''Alliance with Rajinikanth is unlikely as of now. He further said that he hope Rajinikanth's politics is not saffron.'
