Election Commission to announce EVM challenge schedule on Saturday

The Election Commission will announce the schedule for EVM challenge on Saturday. The electoral body will also organise a live EVM demo before making the announcement. At the event, those having raised questions on EVM security would be invited to demonstrate how EVMs can be tampered with.

The political parties would also be invited to demonstrate that the EVMs used during the recent Assembly elections had been tampered with.

About a week ago, the ECI had held a meeting with representatives of 42 political parties on the issue of electoral reforms, including EVM security.

The Commission gave a detailed presentation on security features of EVMs to assert that they could not be tampered with given the administrative measures adopted to secure them. The EC had also announced that henceforth, VVPATs would be used in all the Assembly and General elections.
