Rahul Gandhi picked actor-turned-politician Ramya to head Congress social media

As part of a major reshuffle, the Congress has chosen actor former Lok Sabha MP Ramya to head the social media team of the party. The 34-year-old actor will replace Rohtak

MP Deepender Hooda who handled the social media of the Congress for 5 years.This step has been taken in view of the BJP's dominating presence on the social media.

This decision was taken by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in a move to strengthen the party's presence on various platforms of social media.According to reports, Ramya will also put out tweets from the Twitter handle of Rahul Gandhi.

Ramya was in news last year for her controversial comment when she rebuked the then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar saying, "Pakistan is a good country, not hell. Parrikar's comments (that going to Pakistan or hell is the same thing) are not true."

The actor got trolled heavily on Twitter after the comment.A case of sedition was also filed against her by in Karnataka.

Ramya joined the Congress in 2012 and won the Lok Sabha polls from Mandya constituency in 2013 but lost the seat in the 2014 general election.
