Small sugar gains in lacklustre trade

Mumbai: Prices of small sugar surged in an otherwise lacklustre Vashi wholesale market here today on rising demand from stockists and bulk consumers. Elsewhere, medium sugar prices ruled steady in the absence of any large-scale buying activity.

Small sugar (S-30) prices rose by Rs 10/9 per quintal to Rs 3,050/3,231 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 3,040/3,222. Medium sugar (M-30) closed unchanged at Rs 3,080/3,352.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets: 
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,050/3,231 (Rs 3,040/3,222).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,080/3,352 (Rs 3,080/3,352).
