WhatsApp always keeps on adding new and unique features to make the user experience more intuitive for its members. Over the first half of 2018, the popular messenger app has received multiple updates to bring new features and UI changes, the primary of all being the ability to send money to WhatsApp contacts.

However, the developers aren’t done yet and they have now introduced a new feature that will solve one of the persistent issues with the app — slow upload speeds of photos. Yes, WhatsApp will now be able to send your photos faster than before. As WABetaInfo reports, the new feature. known as ‘Predicted Uploads’, will aid in sending photos faster, with less time for waiting. The feature starts sending the photos even before you have tapped on the ‘send’ button. Don’t worry yet, your photos aren’t going straight to the receiver. Photos will now be uploaded from the moment you select them to the server and will be kept on hold until you approve them for sending.

If you remove a photo before sending, the server will delete the copy that it’s received and send the ones that have been approved by the user for dispatch. Additionally, if you are editing a photo after selecting it, then the WhatsApp servers will delete the unedited copy and receive the final edited copy to send it to the receiver. This addition is meant to reduce the waiting period for users and will aid faster data transfer. However, do note that the feature works only for photos currently — videos and GIFs will only be sent to the server once the sender approves. Also, Predicted Uploads is a server-side update, which is why the users on Android and iOS should be able to experience the changes. iOS users on WhatsApp version 2.18.61 will able to see faster photo sending times whereas Android users will be able to experience the same on 2.18.156.
