Militants attack CRPF in Awantipora, search launched

Suspected militants attacked a CRPF party in Awantipora tehsil of south Kashmir's Pulwama district shortly after midnight. Reports said that the militants fired upon a CRPF vehicle near Kharmod in Awantipora around 1 am and fled from the spot.

Gunshots were heard during middle of the night on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Awantipora in South Kashmir, reports said on Friday. Local sources said that few gunshots were followed by intense firing which looked like fire exchange between militants and government forces near Ziyarat Shareef Awantipora in Pulwama district. They said that the area was cordoned off by the forces after the attack. There was no report of any casualties.
