Here’s how PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal’s families reacted post CWG 2018 final

Hyderabad: Saina Nehwal defeated her compatriot PV Sindhu by straight games in a high-octane clash to seal a 21-18, 23-21 win and clinched a gold medal in the women’s singles title in the all-Indian finals of 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia on Sunday.

Nehwal’s mother Usha Rani said, "We are really happy with her victory (Gold medal), she has been working hard for this. She had suffered an injury and she wanted to win. I usually don't watch her crucial matches; I prefer doing puja for her win. Both (Saina and Sindhu) played very well. I am proud of her comeback." Nehwal's grandmother, Phulmati, expressed happiness at her win in the Games and said that God blessed her for her hard work. Sindhu’s father meanwhile said that while Sindhu should have won, it was a great match.

"It was a great match. Of course, she could have won. Saina was senior to her and also she had a lack of experience. Hopefully, Sindhu can do better in the coming tournaments. She has not practised much as she suffered an ankle injury before the CWG," Ramana told ANI. Speaking of Sindhu's mistakes committed during the game, Ramana added, "We saw her weak areas during the match. I will take it up to the academy to address them after she comes back. She will definitely come back strong and will go ahead. For now, she has to wait for winning a gold medal for some time."
