An advocate, DR Meghwal, has filed a petition against India's all-rounder Hardik Pandya for supposedly posting a tweet against Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on 26 December, last year. Following the petition, an SC/ST court, on Wednesday, 21 March, asked the Jodhpur Police to lodge an FIR against the cricketer.

According to The Times of India, Meghwal feels that Pandya's tweet brought disrepute to Ambedkar. Hardik Pandya's supposed tweetWhich Ambedkar ??? The one who drafted a cross law and constitution or the one who spread the disease called reservation in the country. However, according to The Times of India , the tweet was posted by the handle @sirhardik3777, which is not Hardik Pandya's official twitter handle. The cricketer's official handle is @hardikpandya7. Reportedly, the parody account has been deactivated at the moment.

Meghwal, who says he is a member of the Rashtriya Bhim Sena in Rajasthan's Jalore district, wrote in his complaint that Pandya has not only disrespected the constitution and the architect of the Constitution, but also hurt the people of Ambedkar's community. DR Meghwal to The Times of IndiaI learnt about Pandya's comment through social media in January. It appeared quite derogatory for a figure like Ambedkar and was an attempt to spread hatred and create division in the society. By doing so, he has committed a serious crime and hurt the sentiments of my entire community. (The Quint has given up the use of plastic plates and spoons.
