New Delhi : Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and his deputy Jishnu Deb Burman today called on Home Minister Rajnath Singh here and discussed with him various issues, including the security situation in the state, an official said.

This was Deb's first visit to the national capital after the BJP formed its first government in the state, decimating the Left Front, which ruled the state for 25 years, in the recent Assembly polls. Deb briefed the home minister about the law and order situation in Tripura and the steps taken to improve it, a home ministry official said. The chief minister and his deputy yesterday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also attended a lunch hosted by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for MPs on the occasion of 'Gudi Padwa' and 'Ugadi'. Deb is expected to meet Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and seek a package to tide over the state's financial crisis.
