'Taj Mahotsav' 2018 to dedicate Lord Ram

Agra: The Saffron Govt in Uttar Pradesh seems to have taken in revolutionize at the annual 'Taj Mahotsav' as The 'Taj Mahotsav' festival used to have a theme around Mughal culture, will for the first time ever flag off with a dance-drama based on Lord Ram in this year edition. And this has led to a hullabaloo with the state government being pointed the finger at saffronisation of the occasion.

The yearly carnival will be held from February 18 to 27 in Agra and both Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Ram Naik have been invited to be present at the inaugural ceremony. While the BJP has hailed the choice of 'Taj Mahotsav' to the theater a dance-drama based on Lord Ram, terming it an auspicious decision, the state government appears to be isolated itself from the assessment.

Uttar Pradesh government sources said the questions over 'Taj Mahotsav' theme are wide of the mark and it was off beam to say the history of Taj Mahal was being overlooked. Sources added that local administration and organizers are accountable for the occasion. Deputy Director of Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, Dinesh Kumar said that the 'Taj Mahotsav' working group designs and executes the theme of the event.
