Sugar eases on subdued demand

Mumbai : Prices of both varieties of sugar eased at the Vashi wholesale market here today following subdued demand from stockists and bulk consumers amidst ample supply from producing regions.

Small sugar (S-30) slid by Rs 10/14 per quintal to Rs 3,440/3,552 from Wednesday's close at Rs 3,450/3,566.Medium sugar (M-30) also moved down by Rs 10/22 per quintal to Rs 3,596/3,770 as against Rs 3,606/3,792 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,440/3,552 (Rs 3,450/3,566).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,596/3,770 (Rs 3,606/3,792).
