Shiv Sena to contest 40 seats in Gujarat alone

The Shiv Sena will make its political debut in Gujarat. The party which has been in a war of words with its alliance partner in Maharashtra has decided to contest 40 seats in the Gujarat assembly elections on its own.

The party will focus on the southern and western belt which has a substantial Marathi speaking population. Apart from this the Shiv Sena also hopes to capitalise on those areas where is a strong Hindu ideology. According to the Gujarat Wing Coordinator of the party, the Shiv Sena would field most of its candidates between the Surat and Rajkot belt. The party is currently finalising its strategy following which the list of candidates will be released.
