Copra gains on rising demand

Mumbai : Copra office Alappuzha, copra office Kozhikode, copra rajapur Mumbai and copra edible Mumbai gained further at the spices market here today following rise in demand from stockists and retailers amid good export offtake.

Rest all other spices ruled steady in absence of any worthwhile buying activity.Copra rajapur mumbai and copra edible mumbai rose by Rs 500 per quintal each to Rs 18,000 and Rs 15,000 from Wednesday's close Rs 17,500 and Rs 14,500.Copra office Alappuzha and copra office Kozhikode firmed up by Rs 200 per quintal each to Rs 13,200 and Rs 13,000 as against Rs 13,000 and Rs 12,800 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 410/490 (410/490), ginger unbleached (per kg) 130 (130), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 13,200 (13,000), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 13,000 (12,800), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 18,000 (17,500), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 15,000 (14,500).
