Reserved parking slots for women on Brigade Road in Bengaluru

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike in association with the Brigade's Shops and Establishments' Association (BSEA), on Sunday, dedicated 10 parking slots exclusively for cars driven by women.

Out of 85 available parking slots, it has now reserved 20% of the slots for women. The parking slots are available in any of the last 10 parking bays (beginning from Bata showroom to the Puma showroom) on Brigade road. This initiative was launched in the interest of women's safety.

The parking fee for a first two hours is Rs 5, Rs 10 for two to four hours, and Rs 15 for four to six hours. There will be a security guard deployed near the parking zone for women, cameras have been installed to ensure the safety of women. According to Mayor Sampath Raj, who inaugurated the initiative, said it was a step forward in ensuring women's safety. This initiative will also be launched on Church Street soon while the multi-storeyed parking complex coming up at Gandhinagar will have up to 25 percent parking slots reserved for women.
