PM Modi Addresses Rally in Bharuch, Calls Opposition 'Thieves'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Gujarat. He inaugurated a number of projects during his visit. On Sunday, he visited his childhood school in his hometown of Vadnagar and also addressed a public meeting - both of which he did for the first time since becoming the Prime Minister in 2014.

PM Modi reached Bharuch, where he laid the foundation stone of a barrage over the Narmada River. He also flagged off the Antyodaya Express.After visiting the medical college GMERS, PM Modi spoke about the need for accessible and affordable healthcare for the poor.PM Modi spoke about the Chinese scholar Xuanzang, who "visited my village in India and the in China, he visited President Xi's village".In his maiden address at his hometown since becoming PM, Modi stated that he has become all that he is due to Vadnagar.Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the "Intensified Mission Indradhanush", an immunisation program in Vadnagar.

The PM inaugurated the GMERS Medical College and dedicated it to the nation. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Union Minister JP Nadda were also present at the event.The PM also interacted with the students of the medical college.On his maiden visit to his hometown since taking office, PM Modi visited his school and then offered prayers at Hatkeshwar Temple.Prime Minister Narendra Modi's began his roadshow in his hometown Vadnagar amid loud cheers by the crowd.There were chants of "Modi-Modi" and flowers were showered on him at several places along the route of the roadshow.The locals told mediapersons it was a matter of great pride that the "son of the soil" was the prime minister and was visiting the town after a long time.

On day 2 of his Gujarat visit, PM Modi will visit his hometown of Vadnagar for the first time since taking office and address a gathering there.He will also the lay the foundation stone in Bharuch for Bhadbhut Barrage, to be built over the Narmada River.
