Ginger recovers on upbeat demand

Mumbai : Ginger unbleached rebounded at the spices market here today due to good demand from stockists and retailers.

While, black pepper slipped owing to lower demand from stockists and retailers.Meanwhile, all other spices ruled steady in the absence of any worthwhile buying activities.Ginger bleached rose by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 135 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 130.However, black pepper fell by Rs 10/10 per kg to Rs 465/555 as against Rs 475/565 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 465/555 (475/565), ginger unbleached (per kg) 135 (130), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 12,000 (12,000), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 11,800 (11,800), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,500 (16,500), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 14,500 (14,500).
