Over 800 engineering colleges to be locked by 2018

Bangalore: Over 800 engineering colleges across the country will be locked in the next academic year.

The Colleges have been asked to submit a report within the 2nd week of September, which is due to the poor performance of the Colleges that are being set up by the All India Technical Education Board.

It is said that these colleges have been closed down due to less than 30% of the past five years. Anil Sahasrubudu also said that we have also given the opportunity to merge with adjoining colleges.

There are 600 engineering colleges in Karnataka, which have listed poor quality engineering colleges and have not been publicly disclosed.The report is reported to be close to colleges listed or merged with adjoining colleges. This change will be implemented from the academic year 2018-19.

There are 10,361 engineering colleges in the country, 1,500 in Maharashtra, 1,300 in Tamil Nadu, 1,165 in Uttar Pradesh and 800 in Andhra Pradesh, and 27 lakh seats in 37 lakh seats are still vacant.Some of the engineering colleges in the closed-list state have sought time to improve the quality.
