Ever since the overwhelming victory of the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the once politically mighty Congress has seen a significant lull. They have faced loss after loss in various states since losing power in the Central government. However, it seems they do not intend to go down quietly.

With a detailed breakdown of the RBI data post-demonetisation finally out to the public, saying that 99% (15.28 lakh crores) of scrapped currency is back in the system. Taking the data as a sign of the failure of demonetisation, the Congress began targeting the Central government almost immediately on Twitter.

Not one to stop at just targeting Modi alone, the Congress decided to go back in history to target a certain personality the BJP and RSS hold in high regard: VD Savarkar, or as he earned his nickname for fighting off a hore of Muslims, "Veer" Savarkar, through another Twitter poll.

According to historical records, Savarkar, who had pleaded mercy to the British for clemency in exchange for his absolute loyalty, and then went on to actively discourage people holding government posts from participating in the Quit India movement by means of a letter titled 'Stick to your Posts'.
