PM Narendra Modi to attend 9th BRICS summit in China

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 9th BRICS Summit to be held in Xiamen province in China during September 3-5, 2017. Last year, BRICS summit was held in Goa, India.

The 2017 BRICS summit will be the ninth annual BRICS summit, an international relations conference attended by the heads of government of the five member states Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. This is the second time the China has hosted the summit after the 2011 summit.

This is the first visit to China by PM Modi after both the countries started withdrawing their troops from Doklam plateau on Monday as the 75-day long standoff came to an end.PM Modi's last visit to China was in 2015. Then both the countries signed 24 agreements worth over 10 billion dollars in Beijing. Business was the main focus of PM Modi's three-day visit.

Subsequently, after the BRICS summit, PM Modi will pay a State visit to Myanmar from September 5-7, 2017 at the invitation of Htin Kyaw, President of Myanmar.
