Bengaluru: In a move which surprised thousands of engineering and architecture course aspirants, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Ministry of Human Resources (MHRD) have decided not to implement one nation-one test for technical courses from the next academic year in line with the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEE

It can be recalled that both MHRD and AICTE were planning to introduce a single test for all the technical courses from 2018-19.According to the sources in the AICTE, the proposal was shot down by the various stake holders in technical education sitting few practical difficulties.

"There are apprehensions about including IITs and IIITs and central universities under the ambit of this proposed single test. If IIT, central universities, and IIITs were excluded from this one test concept, the examination itself loses its significance. So till all the stake holders arrive in a unanimous decision, we have decided not to implement the test," said an officer.

It can be recalled that NEET for MBBS and BDS courses are also facing stiff resistance from few sections especially states like Tamil Nadu. Center was forced to exclude Tamil Nadu from NEET for this academic year following the pressure from the state government.
